YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Entrepreneurship can play an important role in a country's growth. In spite of the increasing recognition of entrepreneurship as a source of job creation, empowerment and economic dynamism in a rapidly globalising world, little emphasis has been laid on it from the youth perspective.

The tendency has been either to subsume the youth into the general adult population or to ignore their efforts to forge a livelihood through enterprise activities. This has resulted in the lack of an adequate understanding of the potential benefits of youth entrepreneurship as a means of improving youth livelihoods.

The role of Youth entrepreneurship can be underscored in:

a. Effective utilization of resources particularly those viewed to be of low value;
b. Increase in per capita income through improved income by the entrepreneurial ventures;
c. Promotion of Informational and communication Technologies;
d. Employment creation through e
ntrepreneurial development giving rise to economic growth opportunities.
e. Empowerment of youths by decision making. etc

Challenges Fasing Kenyan Youth

Kenyan youths do not have role models in the leaders we have! If they are there, they possess more negativities than what can be copied! There are no Gandhi, Luther King (Jr), Mandela etc. How ever will the youths become leaders - come "tomorrow"?
